Utladalen Landscape Protection Area

The Utladalen Landscape Protection Area was founded on December 05, 1980 along with Jotunheimen National Park. The protection area covers an area of ​​approx. 300 square kilometers. The landscape protection area is located on the west side of Jotunheimen National Park, in the municipalities of Årdal and Luster. The safety regulations were revised on 14.11.14.

From Sognefjellet, the protected area extends down the valleys of Vetle and Storutladalen along the river Utla to Hjelle. The hanging valleys Skogadalen, Uradalen and Fleskedalen in the east and Stølsmaradalen and Gravdalen in the west are also within the landscape protection area.

Well-known tourist attractions such as Vettisfossen waterfall, Skogadalsbøen Tourist Cabin, Avdal Farm, Vetti Farm Tourist Station and Utladalen Naturhus are central to the protection area.
