The small fjord community of Indre (inner) Ofredal was a busy place between the early parts of the 19th century and the Second World War, where the water powered both the mill and the sawmill. Today the place has importance as cultural heritage.

In Årdal you find a family friendly waterpark near the towncenter of Øvre Årdal.

The museum of Utladalen Naturhus opened in 1998 and houses an exhibition containing information about the natural and cultural history of the calley of Utladalen as well as the western part of Jotunheimen.
