The classical hike through Jotunheimen

Did you know that there is a classic hike through Jotunheimen that is a favourite amongst Norwegians? And the Mountain Bus will help you get to the start of the hike.

30th of June is the start of the Mountain Bus this year. The will take you between Årdal and Turtagrø during the summer season. To do the hike from Turtagrø to Vetti in Utladalen, you start by taking the morning bus from Årdal 8:55am to Turtagrø. And there your hike starts, and you can take your time (and be flexible about your number of nights), on your return back to Årdal.

About the hike:

Day 1:

Rise and shine early to get the bus. You find the route HERE: Arrival at Turtagrø 10:10am.

PS! We advice that you book your bus ticket in advance using our online booking.

Make your way from Turtagrø towards Skogadalsbøen, where you can stay the night.

DUration: 7 + hours

Day 2:

Hike through beautiful mountain terrain from Skogadalsbøen across Friken, down to the valley of Fleskedalen and onwards to Vettismorki. You must stop by the new viewpoint platform above the Vettisfossen waterfall.

Duration of the hike on day 2 is 6-8 hours, and a lot of downhill. You might want to consider staying the night at the new DNT-cabin at Vettismorki to rest sore feet. The other option is to hike down to Vetti Farm in Utladalen - a fairy tail spot.

Day 3:

Enjoy your breakfast and continue hiking through the valley of Utladalen towards Hjelle and Årdal, and you are now back where you started 3 days ago. Feel free to stop by the exhibiton at Utladalen Nature House.
